LANDMARK INTERNATIONAL EVENTS

Aimed primarily at promoting and preserving the rich traditional Banarasi handloom craft and enhance its global footprint further, a fashion show - ‘Banaras - A Tapestry of Indian Culture and Craftsmen’ as part of 2-day-long ‘Prayas: Dharohar Kashi Ki’ was organised at the historic Namo Ghat along the Holy Ganga in the spiritual capital of India, Varanasi.

Asia’s biggest designer, Manish Malhotra brought the essence of Banaras to life with the ‘Dharohar Kashi Ki’ fashion show. Renowned actors Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon were the showstoppers at the fashion show. While Kriti looked gorgeous in a traditional red lehenga, Ranveer walked the ramp wearing a purple Banarasi brocade sherwani with a dhoti. Around 40 models walked the ramp wearing unique Banarasi handloom collections created by the designer. The event aimed at empowering the Bunkar community of Banaras.

In a powerful tribute to the resilience, courage and never-say-die spirit of Mumbai and its people, 'Namo Bharat Sewa Sahas aur Sanskriti’ Fashion Show, led and curated by ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra to celebrate India’s rich textile heritage, was organised at the Hotel Taj, Mumbai.

Saluting the spirit of survivors, themed ‘Namo Bharat Sahas Sewa Sanskriti’, it also honoured real-life heroes from diverse walks of life who have persevered through adversity with their unbreakable spirit to survive cancer, 26/11 terror attack and Mumbai flood in 2005, showing Mumbai's strength and the incredible never-say-die spirit that defines the city.

A galaxy of stars dazzled at the fashion show with Bollywood stars Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri led the runway as showstoppers. Cancer Warriors and Bollywood film actresses Sonali Bendre, Hina Khan and Filmmaker Tahira Kashyap walked the ramp, symbolizing hope, resilience, and the triumph of true spirit of the human spirit. Film producer and Indian entrepreneur, Ronnie Screwvala also graced the occasion.

Espousing the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji towards ensuring menstrual hygiene and affordable access to sanitary napkins, Chandigarh Welfare Trust achieved a new Guinness World Record for India for the world's largest distribution of sanitary napkins in 24 hours on October 2, 2023, in Chandigarh. Under Kanyavrat initiative, 1.25 lakh packets of sanitary napkins were distributed to women and girls in slums and villages in Chandigarh. Each packet consisted of four sanitary napkins, bringing the total count of sanitary napkins distributed in 24 hours to 5 lakhs in the city.

As we celebrated the momentous milestone of the 75th year of India’s Independence, our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji launched an ambitious campaign, ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ to honor our National Flag which represents the glory of a free India. With its firm commitment to turning the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign into a mass movement, NID Foundation and Chandigarh University organized a grand event and scripted history by setting a new Guinness World Records title for the "Largest Human Image of a Waving National Flag." The iconic event organized in Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana was a visual spectacle never seen before in the world. Shri Banwarilal Purohit, the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Chandigarh Administrator, and Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, the Hon'ble Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.

Imbued with great patriotic zeal and fervor, as many as 5885 students came together to salute our national pride, Tiranga, and achieved the remarkable feat at the Cricket Stadium in Sector 16, Chandigarh

In association with Shri Guru Ravidas Janamsthan Public Charitable Trust of Varanasi, a Blood Donation Camp was organised on the occasion of the 646th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. The Blood Donation Camp was organized at Seer Goverdhanpur, the birthplace of Guru Ravidas Ji at Varanasi. People from different parts of the world donated blood for the social cause.

The Rotary Club organised a free ‘Artificial Limb Fitting Camp’ in Mumbai. During the camp, doctors along with assisting staff examined and fitted artificial limbs (prosthetics) on as many as 80 specially-abled persons and consultations on follow-up support for proper use of prosthetics were also provided during the camp. Indian actress Pankhuri Gidwani and noted Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari also attended the camp.

The 2022 edition of Seva Pakhwada marked a pivotal moment in advancing the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's nationwide mission of “accessible and affordable healthcare for all.” The initiative jointly mobilized citizens, volunteers, healthcare institutions, and multi-faith communities to celebrate the PM's birthday through meaningful service.

The underlying aim was not mere celebration - it was a profound reaffirmation of the PM's transformative vision for Jan Aarogya, inclusivity, and community-driven welfare.

A landmark healthcare outreach initiative, the mega multi-specialty health camp at Dhanas, Chandigarh, became the centerpiece of the 2022 celebrations. Designed to remove barriers to healthcare access, the initiative demonstrated the real-world translation of the PM's healthcare policies at the grassroots level.

Delivered free consultations from highly experienced doctors across multiple specialities such as Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, General Medicine, Dietetics, Nutrition, and Psychiatry.
